Not so Pre-Heresy Death Guard Post

I am going to do a post on a new topic for a week. I have recently came into a new minatures game which looks interesting. Firestorm Armada is a game of controlling warships as they battle it out. There are several factions available each unique in their personal strengths or so I have been told. I must say I am looking forward to trying it. I will post a picture of what one factions ships can look like.

The First Plague Marines

Well so far I only have a few plague marines done which I will be using. They are all using a nonstandard look as I didn't want to use the actual plague marine models. All are normal space marines with Mk6 Corvus helms with the starting paint job of the pre-heresy Death Guard. Sorry for not having a great camera but this was the best I could do to start. From here I will be building on and trying to get the Oblitz that I listed earlier.

Not so cuddly tanks for Nurgle

Looking at the possible units to deploy in the heavy slot has proven difficult. I can see the benefit of using Vindicators, Predators or Obliterators. I can't see myself using more than one Vindicator though throwing down a large template of marine mushing is always fun. The predator I feel is one of the strongest vehicles simply for it's firepower and cost. Being relatively cheap with good fire power is appealing. The last unit can be fun as well. Being able to pick weaponry during a fight is always appreciated.

Plague Marines

After looking at the possible units of the Space Marines and Chaos Space Marines I have decided to stick with my initial impressions. There was something about cuddly Nurgle that I couldn't resist. Looking at the possible troop choices I have decided to go with the standard choice for someone following Nurgle. The Plague Marines will form the backbone of my force. Using their toughness I hope to use them to take objects and hold out till the end of the game.

For Nurgle or the Emperor

So currently I am having a issue when it comes to considering what I should actually do with the army I am going to be painting. I have two ways to build the list and army which is being considered. I am still set on making a Pre-Heresy painted Death Guard army, except what side should I fight for. I have the option of supporting the Loyalist side in favor of the Emperor or Nurgle who well in the story is a nice cuddly happy individual. That is if you don't mind a few maggots or thousands of different diseases infecting you.

Choosing a side does have an effect in what I will get to experience while I play the game. If I have them follow the Emperor I will have access to some new equipment that I find interesting. Probably the crowning piece of gear I would enjoy being able to field is the Storm Shield that Terminators are allowed to equip. Some of the vehicles would be interesting in to be able to field.

There is the joy though if I have them side with Nurgle, of being able to field the Plague Marines which I enjoy. Even though I feel they are not as useful now as they used to be before the newer rules I am drawn to them. I think this is mostly because I have used them for several years in previous lists and armies that I have put together.

My First Post

So as I was trying to think about what I should put in my blog, I settled on a completely random topic. After looking at a game I have played in the past called Warhammer 40k I got the sudden desire to actually build and work on the army I have. My focus is on a group called the Death Guard. The desire to build them came from looking at the paint job of another player who posted what his looked like. It is not the standard look but a varient that I was drawn to. Hopefully I will be able to get something that looks even remotely as good as his, though I doubt it as painting is not my strong point. I found a decent amount of backstory from the 40k lexicanum.
A sample picture of the work I am considering borrowing.
